Take a look at the Impeccable Tweed Hat pattern.
It's a nice solid stitch but not so dense
that it's not pliable. You can add a pom or not. You can even make the pom with the yarn, if you prefer.
I purposely made this hat very easy, almost beginner. You
will only need single crochets and chains. You would be surprised at how many gorgeous stitch patterns can be made with only single crochet!
