Last week's project was so big that I took a little break by working on a scarf that can be finished in a weekend. Sometimes, you just need to reward yourself with a smaller project in order to avoid burnout.

As I was yarn doodling with some of my favorite stitches, I developed this 4-row repeat. The little motifs look like twisty candy wrappers. So pretty!

It didn't take long for me to fall in love with this stitch pattern. It's so pretty that I made certain to provide you with the stitch multiples. I've already started an afghan! 

Planning Ahead for a New Project

When I was 16, my great grandmother gave me a quilt she had made. It was made up of little squares that she had cut from old children's clothing. Rather than throw out the clothing beyond repair, she cut little squares from them and saved them.

There were all kinds of little squares in that afghan. There was a lot of gingham, so popular at the time. And, there were pieces of flannel pajamas with rockets on them, since it must have been around the time of the moon landing.

These squares are the scraps leftover from the projects I've made so far for Make It Crochet. 

This will be my tribute to my great grandmother: a Postage Stamp afghan made only of leftover yarn. It may take me a couple of years, but I am looking forward to it!
