This free crochet pattern for a 12″ Granny Square is perfect on its own or paired with other blocks in a full afghan. Inspired by vintage ceramic tiles, this feminine afghan block uses aran weight yarn to make a cozy, squishy texture.

Thank you to Tamara of Moogly for inviting me to make a square for this year’s crochet along. I have loved the challenge of trying to expand to a 12″ square because I so often love a 6″ or 7″ square and I am always challenged in making it to 12″.
